This is a project-based volunteer position within Communications branch of the Marketing department. An articulate and efficient individual in this position will be writing content for consumption by fans, supporters, and members of the IQA. Writers will compose event write-ups, announcement articles, and press releases that both engage and inform, keeping people updated with the activities of the Association and other quidditch governing bodies. Writers will not be writing editorial pieces. They will report to the Communications Team Leader and will work with the Translation branch as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect information and materials relative to the assignment and apply these to compositions
  • Submit drafts for approval and adjust based on comments
  • Write entertaining content updating followers as to the Association’s activities and the activities of other quidditch governing bodies
  • Helps ensure all official communication is clear, well-written, and accurately reflects the IQA’s standards and policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent command of written English, French, or Spanish
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Word and/or other word processing software
  • Ability to engage readers with clear, well-written prose
  • Regular access to email and Skype

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in journalism or event write-ups
