Translator

This is a project-based volunteer position. A talented individual will translate official IQA communication on our website and various social media channels. They will report to the Marketing Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Translate texts of varying lengths and on varying topics from English to your language
  • Create natural and grammatically consistent texts for consumption by native speakers of your language

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent written fluency in your language
  • Strong written and verbal fluency in English
  • Regular access to email
  • Ability to successfully work independently and under deadline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with translation work
  • Familiarity with the specialized vocabulary of quidditch in both languages

Graphic Designer

This is a project-based volunteer position within the Creative Services team and the Marketing department. A dedicated individual will be on hand to provide high impact designs and copy layouts to be used both in intracompany correspondence and in conjunction with public relations materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect information and materials relevant to the assignment and apply to design
  • Plan concepts based on aforementioned research
  • Submit drafts for approval and adjust based on comments
  • Work towards creating an effective and cohesive visual ‘brand’

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good people skills
  • Basic proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Open to feedback
  • Creative and flexible with an eye for a variety of styles
  • Detail-oriented and dedicated to polished results
  • Ability to multitask and simultaneously track progress of multiple priorities and projects
  • Proficient in at least one design program (e.g. Adobe Photoshop)
  • Regular access to email and Skype

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience in logo design and in creating copy layouts
  • Experience in multiple mediums (e.g. digital-only, shirt design)
  • Lettering experience

Social Media Team Member

This is a 5-10 hour/week volunteer position within Communications branch of the Marketing Department. A dedicated individual in this medium-impact position will be in charge of the IQA’s social media accounts and maintaining the IQA’s public image across multiple platforms. They will work with the Translation branch of the Marketing Department as directed and will report to the Communications Team Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all official IQA social media accounts
  • Post regularly to engage the association’s members, fans, and supporters
  • Brainstorm new, effective ways of communicating with the association’s members, fans, and supporters
  • Help ensure all official communication is clear, well-written, and accurately reflects the IQA’s standards and policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Familiarity and comfort with all major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr)
  • Ability to multitask and simultaneously track progress of multiple priorities and projects
  • Regular access to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email and Skype

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual
  • Prior experience in a marketing role
  • Familiarity and comfort in additional social media platforms (e.g. YouTube, Reddit, Vine, Snapchat)
  • Prior experience in producing viral content

Photo Editor

This is a project-based volunteer position within the Creative Services branch of the Marketing Department. A creative individual in this position will edit photos to be used in marketing materials for the IQA. Photo-editors will manipulate photographs in a way that catches the eye, enhances the message of the text around it, and maintains the IQA’s brand. They will report to the Communications Team Leader.

Copy Editor

This is a project-based volunteer position within Communications branch of the Marketing Department. An articulate and efficient individual in this position will be editing written content for consumption by fans, supporters, and members of the IQA. Copy-editors will clean up written content before publication and ensure it is clear and follows IQA policies and standards. They will report to the Communications Team Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect information and materials from writer to ensure factual reporting
  • Edit writing for grammar, spelling, flow, organization, and tone
  • Helps ensure all official communication is clear, well-written, and accurately reflects the IQA’s standards and policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good people skills
  • Excellent command of written English, French, or Spanish
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Word and/or other word processing software
  • Ability to edit and improve writing to produce clear, well-written prose
  • Regular access to email and Skype

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in editing

Writer

This is a project-based volunteer position within Communications branch of the Marketing department. An articulate and efficient individual in this position will be writing content for consumption by fans, supporters, and members of the IQA. Writers will compose event write-ups, announcement articles, and press releases that both engage and inform, keeping people updated with the activities of the Association and other quidditch governing bodies. Writers will not be writing editorial pieces. They will report to the Communications Team Leader and will work with the Translation branch as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect information and materials relative to the assignment and apply these to compositions
  • Submit drafts for approval and adjust based on comments
  • Write entertaining content updating followers as to the Association’s activities and the activities of other quidditch governing bodies
  • Helps ensure all official communication is clear, well-written, and accurately reflects the IQA’s standards and policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent command of written English, French, or Spanish
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Word and/or other word processing software
  • Ability to engage readers with clear, well-written prose
  • Regular access to email and Skype

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in journalism or event write-ups

Communications Team Leader

This is a 5-10 hour/week volunteer position within the Marketing Department. A dedicated individual in this high impact position will lead the Communications Team, ensuring the IQA’s public image is properly maintained across all media platforms. They will meet regularly with their staff and the translation branch of the Marketing Department, and will report to the Marketing Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Marketing Manager in executing and overseeing all official communication from the IQA
  • Ensure all official communication is clear, well-written, and accurately reflects the IQA’s standards and policies
  • Help brainstorm new, effective ways of communicating with the Association’s members, fans, and supporters
  • Hire and manage staff as necessary to assist with timely completion of these tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Prior management experience
  • Familiarity and comfort with all major social media platforms
  • Capable of making note of details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
  • Ability to multitask and simultaneously track progress of multiple priorities and projects

Marketing Manager

This is a 10-15 hour/week volunteer position. A driven individual will craft the IQA’s public image, and maintain contact with the association’s members, fans, and supporters. They will meet regularly with their counterparts in the Congress, and report to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the IQA Congress to develop guidelines and oversee all official communication from the IQA, as well as all organization and event branding.
  • Ensure the multilingual accessibility of important announcements and information
  • Hire and manage staff as necessary to assist with timely completion of these tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Detail-oriented and independently motivated
  • Familiarity and comfort with all major social media platforms
  • Regular access to Skype and email

  • Bilingual
  • Prior experience in a marketing role

Technology Team Member

This is a 10-15 hour/week volunteer position. A driven individual will maintain the IQA’s online presence, and deal with problems as they arise. They will report to the Technology Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work to increase the performance of existing sites and technology
  • Ensure compatibility across digital platforms, browsers, and devices
  • Maintain IQA servers and other technology, including Google Apps

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience developing web applications in PHP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Detail-oriented and independently motivated
  • Regular access to Skype, email, and Slack

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science
  • Strong design skills

Expansion Team Member

The Expansion Team works with teams and fledgling organisations in Emerging Areas to provide them with knowledge, resources, and support to further their growth. They also work to extend quidditch into new areas using existing contacts and teams as well as social media. They report to the Membership Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stay in regular contact with assigned teams and organisations, actively work to foster their growth, and keep meticulous records
  • Encourage membership in the IQA and assist interested parties in signing up
  • Represent your teams and organizations in IQA Congress meetings and speak on their behalf

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exceptional people skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Regular access to email and social media outlets
  • Ability to self-motivate

  • Residence in an Emerging Area

  • Prior experience doing similar work in another organisation
